The prospective space cooks will take part in a four-month program in Hawaii where they will help develop a suitable menu for a hypothetical trip to Mars! Though this may sound like a wacky Top Chef challenge - it’s not.
The chefs will cook a variety of durable meals to see what will and won't work in the simulated space environment. To apply for this program you’ll obviously need a food background, but you'll also need a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biological or physical sciences, mathematics, or computer science. Is it just me, or is NASA getting light years ahead of itself?
